Care Instructions: Stretch mark and Scar Camouflage

Jane Lee Academy

Stop using any skin thinners (vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the treatment area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin) 48 hours before your procedure, as this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results.

You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle. We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in or around the treatment area.

Please wear looser clothing to your appointment.

Before Your Appointment:

After Your Appointment:

Aftercare is crucial; it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 14-day healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results will vary for all individuals, and we cannot guarantee your results.

You are able to shower 3 hours after the procedure.

You will wash your scar/stretch mark area morning and night. Just use water and wet your fingertips and pat all throughout your treatment area every day for 14 days or until the flaking has stopped.

Make sure you blot your treatment area completely dry with a paper towel after washing.

Apply the ointment provided to your treatment area morning and night.

Do not pick or scratch at the area of the tattoo.

Please avoid using any scented or fragrance cleansers, soaps, or lotions during the healing process.

IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU FOLLOW PRE AND POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS TO ENSURE THE BEST HEALED RESULTS!

Do not expect your scar or stretch marks to heal perfectly after the first session. This can be a 1-4 session process. It takes time. Be patient! During your 14-day healing process, your treatment area will change and appear different from day to day.

Immediately after your procedure, the treatment area will appear darker and more red. This will last up to 20-40 days.

You will experience flaking, crusting, and your treatment area may look dry. Do not pick your scar or stretch marks; let any dryness fall off naturally. If the flakes get picked off prematurely, it will cause patchy healed results.

When the flaking comes off, the treatment area may seem faint. This is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the treatment. The color will continue to change on a daily basis until all healing is complete at the 6-8 week mark.

You may experience itchiness in the scar or stretch mark due to the healing process.

What You Will Experience:

  • Touch-ups are typically done within the first 3 months after the initial appointment.
  • This is typically a 1-4 session process.
  • Do not expect perfect results after the first session.
  • You will not see immediate results.
  • Some clients’ skin may have a more difficult time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions. With long-term care, there is no guarantee of your results as everyone’s result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle, and the initial 14-day care and long-term care of your tattoo.
  • Use SPF to protect your treatment area; sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of your tattoo.
  • Do not use chemical exfoliants on the scar or stretch marks; this will cause it to fade faster.
  • Do not do laser in the treatment area; some lasers may change the color of the pigment.
  • Touch-ups are done on average every 3-8 years to maintain your tattoo.

What Not To Do:

Touch Ups:

  • Do not expose your scar or stretch marks to the sun prior to or during the healing process. UV rays can alter the pigment of your tattoo.
  • Following the first 14 days, SPF is important for the longevity of your micropigmentation. Do not sweat excessively for 10 days. Sweat contains salt and can infect and prematurely fade your brow tattoo. Salt in the sweat may also alter the color of your tattoo. Moderate exercise is fine.
  • Do not use Vaseline on your tattoo. Use the Aquaphor provided for you.
  • Do not use any makeup, creams, exfoliants on the scars or stretch marks for 14 days.
  • Do not go into saunas, pools, and steam rooms for 14 days.
  • Do not get massages or skin treatments during the healing process.
  • Do not go tanning; UV rays can alter the color of your tattoo.
  • Do not use laser light therapy on your tattoo. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.
